Our Accomplishments
  • Turtuk Valley School was started in November 2020 with 25 students. After registration with UT Govt. of Ladakh, within a year, over 100 students enrolled at the school.

  • Around 40% of the deserving students pay no fees while the rest pay a very nominal fees.

  • 14 women from Turtuk are employed in the school at various capacities.

  •  The school boasts of a library and digital classrooms equipped with televisions for audio visual learning.

  • The school follows the Reggio Emilia approach. A play way method of teaching has been set up for kindergarten with support of friends and kind strangers who have donated materials for the school. Materials were raised through social media.

  • Through the funding of AFAC Trust, 9 teachers were trained in Mumbai by the Kotak Education Foundation. 

  • Every year one class travels to Mumbai from Turtuk during the harsh weather conditions in Turtuk to continue their learning by performing hands-on science experiments and learning computer science through lab activities 

  • 6 Volunteers came and lived in the village and conducted community classes for the kids during the pandemic.

  •  Outdoor classes were conducted during the pandemic as there was no internet facility in the village for online lessons.

  • Received the Philanthropy School Award - India #7 and Ladakh #1 by Education World  ( for providing free education during pandemic)

  • Received the Best Pre school in Ladakh-  #1 by National School Awards for following a Reggio inspired methodology.   

  • Received the Best Budget School, India - #25 in India and #1 in Ladakh
