Mrs. Sarah Shah

Mrs. Sarah Shah, born and raised in Bangalore, had a lucrative job with an MNC after her graduation in Science. Inspired by her inner calling to make a difference to rural children through education, she volunteered with schools in the villages of Jammu and Kashmir. Sarah moved to Ladakh in 2016, providing winter tuitions to children in Turtuk.

She found the children to be incredibly curious, gifted, and with a thirst to learn. She also recognized the lack of an institution to provide continued and quality education in Turtuk.  To fill this gap, Sarah conceived the idea of "Turtuk Valley School". This concept was realized in 2020 with the help of Mr. Mandlecha and the AFAC Trust, the daughters of Turtuk and the larger community of Turtuk.

Sarah's passion to help the people and children of Ladakh grew a thousandfold after her marriage to a Ladakhi. She now nurses an ambition to set up a network of schools in the remote villages of Ladakh.
