About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Turtuk Valley School is dedicated to providing quality education to children in the remote village of Turtuk and its surrounding villages .

The school was opened in 2020  by the Principal, Ms. Sarah Shah along with Ms. Zainab Bano  and (Late) Ms. Shafeeqa Parveen with support of AFAC TRUST  and the lovely community of the village.

There are 9  full-time teachers for 130 students at the moment, and constantly need at least   5  volunteers at any time to keep the time-table of all classes occupied. The school follows a Reggio Emilia philosophy for kindergarten and designs it's own curriculum for primary. The school aspires for utmost exposure for the children with respect to academics, as well as extracurriculars.

With the strong backing of the AFAC Trust, our passionate and dedicated founders along with our committed staff, strive to make sure that each student is given the opportunity to learn and grow to their fullest potential.

Our school is focused on providing a holistic learning environment that is both stimulating and safe. Our teachers are passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping our students reach their goals. We’re proud to be bringing quality education to children in the Turtuk Valley community.

Our Vision and Mission

The Turtuk Valley School is inspired by the Ideology of "Learning to Realise Education's Promise". This promise is an amalgamation of Child-Centric Learning with the insights from cutting-edge research with the fundamental goal to turn working models of pedagogical practices to the need of life long learning and innovation opportunities.

In circumstances of seclusion due to demographics and a discontinuous learning system due to weather, It is our focus to introduce an Innovative Educational System that is rooted in experiential learning. We plan to fill the existing lack of a Continuous Education System through a working system of activity based learning classroom and home schooling curriculum for months the villages are impacted by adverse weather conditions.

We aim to bridge the gap created between the educational facilities of the city and the village. Under the unique needs of the children and people of Ladakh, we believe our vision is robust because it recognises the diverse requirements for continued learning.
